Concrete Patio Contractor in Biltmore, Phoenix, AZ
A patio that fits the courtyard you've actually got.
Phoenix · River and wash alluvium
Patios in the Biltmore area come in two sizes. Single-family homes on the quieter streets have backyards with room for a full patio, a ramada and a fire pit. Then there are the condos, patio homes and townhouses, where the space is a walled courtyard and every square foot counts. Most of this housing went up between the late 1960s and the mid-1980s, so we see a lot of original slabs that have cracked, faded or settled against a block wall, and owners who want a cleaner surface in a modern color.

The ground under Biltmore is river and wash alluvium, silty and sandy, and it gives good support once it is compacted. Trouble starts when water gets under a slab, from a planter along the wall, a downspout, or a sprinkler that overshoots. In a closed courtyard there may be nowhere for that water to go, so we set the patio slope toward a drain or an opening and keep the base firm with compaction in lifts. Planter beds next to the slab get an edge so irrigation stays out of the base.
Biltmore is in the City of Phoenix, and Arizona Biltmore Estates has its own HOA registered with the City, so design review is part of the plan for many homes. We prepare the layout, finish and color your HOA asks for. Courtyard jobs often mean working through a gate or a garage, so access gets planned at the estimate. Early summer pours and monsoon timing are built into the schedule. Free on-site estimate and printed quote: (602) 773-1313.
What’s included
A Biltmore patio gets planned around the yard, the shade and where storm water goes on river and wash alluvium, and the quote spells out each part:
- New patios and patio extensions
- Stamped, colored and exposed-aggregate finishes
- Pergola and shade-structure pads, with footers
- Fire-pit, grill and outdoor-kitchen slabs
- Step pads and paths to the patio
- Patio replacement and resurfacing
- Slope away from the house
- Compacted base for caliche or clay
- Joint layout that fits the design
- Color that holds up in the sun
- A UV-resistant sealer, renewed every few years
River and wash alluvium
Layered silt, sand and gravel laid down by the Salt River and the desert washes, across the flood plains and alluvial fans of the central and west Valley.
Compaction done in lifts at the right moisture, with loose or soft soil dug out and replaced, a thicker section anywhere a truck, trailer or RV will park, and grading that keeps runoff off the slab and out from under it. Washes and drainage easements stay open.
What fails here first
- Corners or joints sunk below the next panel
- Ruts or cracks along the tire lines of a driveway
- Gaps opening under the edge of a slab
- Soil washed out along an edge after a monsoon storm
